What is an overprint?
							
Overprint (overprint) – “overlay, overprint”. Means ink-on-ink printing. For example, almost always black text is overprinted with other process inks. This is done to facilitate the printer’s work and eliminate possible misalignment. The overprint is set by an attribute at the stage of layout layout – responsibility for this rests solely with the layout designer. Sometimes an overprint is necessary, and sometimes it is contraindicated.

For example, if we have a red plate and black text on it, the overprint is MANDATORY. And if we have a two-color solid (say, yellow and red), and the black text (element) is quite bold and large, it should be borne in mind that when printing with an overprint, black can look differently on red and yellow. This is almost imperceptible, but sometimes it can play a cruel joke. In such cases, the layout designer may decide to reverse and set a certain trapping.
