The largest book market in Kharkov
Good Sunday Morning! November 8 – Day of Wish Fulfillment, World Day without Wi-Fi, International Day of Tongue Twisters and a professional holiday of winegrowers and winemakers in Ukraine! … Until the New Year ❄️☃️❄️ 53 days left!
Today we will tell you about the largest book market in Kharkov – Paradise Corner. It sells and buys second-hand and modern editions, sells magazines, calendars, textbooks, as well as stationery.
Historically, it is called the “book beam”. Bursatsky descent and the Cascade before their development were just ravines (gullies) descending from the Nagorny District to the Lopan River. The founder and president of the Raysky Corner concern named the market after his wife Raisa.
Book beam begins its history in 1919. Its location was constantly changing – the Annunciation Cathedral, Bursatsky Descent, Blagbaz, the embankment around the Lopansky Bridge and the Cascade. The choice of Lopansky Bridge was explained by the fact that the market was periodically “chased” by the police, since the sale of books by hand in the USSR was officially prohibited.
Since 1999, the book market in Kharkov has acquired a modern shape. It covers an area of about 5000 sq.m. and has a complete infrastructure. In Paradise, you will find for sale a wide range of products printed by our customers at the First Experimental Printing House – books, magazines, calendars for 2021, product catalogs, notebooks and other useful products.
