Today it is difficult for us to imagine life without a calendar. Have you ever wondered how the first calendar came about? The history of the development of the calendar is closely related to the history of the development of mankind. Since the time people mastered agricultural agriculture, they began to depend on natural natural processes and came to the conclusion that all processes in nature are cyclical and associated with the Sun and the Moon. It became clear that long-term forecasts are possible, but for this it is necessary to systematize observations of natural cycles.
This is how the first devices arose to control the passage of time. For example, the titanic “stone observatory” Stonehenge made it possible to accurately determine the day of the summer solstice. The semblance of modern time reckoning was introduced by Julius Caesar. Further calendar reforms did not affect the methodology itself, but only specified the values of the units of measurement and its starting point.
Interestingly, the very word “calendar” initially had nothing to do with its current meaning. This is how books were called in ancient Rome, in which the interest that came from loans was noted monthly. The first days of each month were called by the Romans “calendars”, hence the name of the fiscal “journal”, the entries in which were updated precisely according to the calendars.
Who invented the calendar as a type of printing product is unknown. It is clear that the appearance of the first handwritten “report cards” was associated with the development of book printing.
