Binding
🌞 Very often, clients of the printing house have difficulty choosing the type of binding. Let’s consider the most popular options: gluing, stapling sheets, fixing with a spring. Each of the methods has its own advantages and characteristics.
✓ Soft glue binding is the fastest, most affordable and popular type of binding “with a spine”. Recommended if you need to give a more presentable look to the product. The optimal volume of the indoor unit is from 48 pages and more, while the number of pages in the layout should be a multiple of four.
It is made in this way: a printed cover with a density of 200-350 g / m2 is laminated or varnished (at the request of the customer), the inner block is folded with notebooks, after which they are placed in a glue machine and connected with melted glue.
✓ Stapling is a very common type of binding as it provides a strong connection at minimal cost. This is the attachment of the edition unit to the cover by wire sewing where the wire staple is pushed into the inside of the unit and then folded inside. The number of staples installed in a product cannot always be two, it rather depends on the format of the product, as well as on the wishes of the customer. The edited edition must be pre-folded. The number of pages in the layout must be divisible by four.
✓ Spring binding – the cover and sheets of the edition are provided with perforations, a spring is threaded through the holes created. The main advantage of this binding is that the resulting product can be easily opened 360 degrees. Scope of use: making catalogs, calendars, notebooks, notebooks.
When choosing the type of binding, it is worth considering the requirements for its strength and aesthetics, the allocated budget, and the customer’s preferences. Typically, printers offer several possible options, the client can only indicate which one is more suitable.
